The day I got robbed… part 1

You know when some tells you about their experience of how they got robbed and in the same breathe say they HATE SA!!!!!!!!! You on the other hand are sympathetic and say it’s not really bad, it’s like that everywhere in the world, well at least they didn’t take your life and you ask the are they emotionally okay?

I got robbed this year let me tell you it was very unpleasant. A friend and I were walking towards her car, it was at about 7ish pm, in Gugulethu, now you need to understand my mom has warned me about this place several times (I admit) and it was rather busy. I had a shiny bag, wearing a bright blue jersey and really didn’t think much about the commotion. This guy jumps out of a white car (doggy I tell you), says something and I immediately turn around and run, he grabs my arm to grab my bag, I SCREAM!!! (Though I can’t even scream to save my life) and people look to see but do they stop to help NO??????? Anyway the car pulls away; I run towards the car and start banging on it (DON”T ask me what was I thinking cause it was oblivious I wasn’t thinking). My friends hear my screaming come closer ask me what happened I’m bitten shaken my friend explains for me. We then get into the perspective cars and head off to the nearest police station. Get there talk to a policeman, he asks what happened I explain,

then gives me a number to call to block my id I then walk away thinking that we’re done and then I’m like aren’t you suppose to issues me with a affidavit form? He responds “oh ewe nansi” (oh yes here it is).  I go home drink sugar water and go to sleep. I wake up in the morning dreading the up/down, ques and how many times I’m going to have to explain what happened to the various people at the  counters.  To top it all I lost my voice at my attempt to scream eish what a day I’m going to have.

“Bunch of animals” is one comment on CPUT strikes in August. What is yours?

“Students gone wild” I tell you.  The students who were part of the strike that took place on campus. I feel have been meaning to express how they really feel about CPUT. Instead of acting in a civilized manner they opted to be barbaric about the situation.  I would like people to know that such behaviour is not what every CPUT student stands for or adhere to. We all from different backgrounds weather they are like this at home I don’t know and will not blame the way they were brought up as an explanation. Rather the influence of various mediums that have brainwashed them and allowed them to forget about the values of respect that they’ve been taught. What happened to sitting down and talking about things, the ethics, respect for the place you study and also the other students. These same students are the leaders that most CPUT students voted for to be our spokesperson. I know that they’ve tried to talk to the relevant department about the situation and didn’t get the answer they were looking for. Acting in such a manner doesn’t make things any better but rather worse. We are to go into the real world and display the skills that we’ve been taught at CPUT. I for sure know that protesting, attacking and acting in an unlawful manner are not among the skills that I’ve been taught at CPUT. Therefore I say that the situation was not handle in a proper manner by the students and if that is what they have to do to get a answer from the relevant people, what are we saying to the public at large. I know that some were punished (sent to jail/appeared I court) but the mere fact remains every single CPUT student was punished classes were canceled for a week. That’s why I say that this behavior was purely students gone wild.

Every day is a good day

The ending of day can only be determined by the way you start the day. If you plan to make it a good day then it will be, though something unexpected can happen and turn your day into a bad day. So you need to know how to handle it. I personally don’t think ever day is a good day; you have to some how go through a bad day. Those days make you appreciate life and fight the battles that you face every day. Over coming bad days is a test we go through in this journey called life. It’s the little things in life that make our days good i.e. friends, flowers, luxury and I think most importantly the fact that we’ve made it to the next day by god’s grace. Some people plan their days and things happen accordingly that could be called a good day. For me a good day well, is one that most would call a tiring day, a day full of work where lot’s of activities and keeping me busy. When a day goes by and I havn’t worked hard enough I feel down and wonder what a bad day I’ve had. Instead of resting on that day I want to work, I suppose it’s something that has become a norm in my life. I know people out there chose to differ well all I can say is my good day won’t really much up to some one’s else explaination of a good day. When the lady at the counter says have a good day does she really mean it or is it just customer service with a smile? Well I say it depends on her mood if you some how get on her wrong side, she wishing a good day well let’s just say won’t be sincere. We as customers should also wish her/him a good day imagine how many people she/he has to say that to and sometimes she’s/he’s not having a good day but just has to give service with a smile. Let’s try to make everyones day a good day start off with a smile and let it not end with a cry.
