“Students gone wild” I tell you. The students who were part of the strike that took place on campus. I feel have been meaning to express how they really feel about CPUT. Instead of acting in a civilized manner they opted to be barbaric about the situation. I would like people to know that such behaviour is not what every CPUT student stands for or adhere to. We all from different backgrounds weather they are like this at home I don’t know and will not blame the way they were brought up as an explanation. Rather the influence of various mediums that have brainwashed them and allowed them to forget about the values of respect that they’ve been taught. What happened to sitting down and talking about things, the ethics, respect for the place you study and also the other students. These same students are the leaders that most CPUT students voted for to be our spokesperson. I know that they’ve tried to talk to the relevant department about the situation and didn’t get the answer they were looking for. Acting in such a manner doesn’t make things any better but rather worse. We are to go into the real world and display the skills that we’ve been taught at CPUT. I for sure know that protesting, attacking and acting in an unlawful manner are not among the skills that I’ve been taught at CPUT. Therefore I say that the situation was not handle in a proper manner by the students and if that is what they have to do to get a answer from the relevant people, what are we saying to the public at large. I know that some were punished (sent to jail/appeared I court) but the mere fact remains every single CPUT student was punished classes were canceled for a week. That’s why I say that this behavior was purely students gone wild.
